Don't be fooled by our name! (We had to call it something!)

It is a name from the early days in 1984 when we started presenting live music at the venue. The mission in our musical life is, as always, to present the finest live music for our audiences that we can find, whatever the genre, but I suppose it boils down to basically presenting music that we like and that covers a very wide selection of tastes. We like variety in music and we hope you will too.

It is most important that whatever the genre, the music is to be of the finest quality. So come along and enjoy some of the finest musicians around.

Larkin Poe: the name of our great-great-great-grandfather; a man who survives in the memories and hearts of succeeding generations; a legend, a tall tale, a truly everlasting story. Just the thing that we hope to become.

Our musical journey, which began for us as children playing classical violin and piano at the ages of 5 and 6, continued through our teenage years as we toured internationally from 2005 to 2010 as The Lovell Sisters. This incarnation, which included our eldest sister, Jessica (www.lovellsisters.com), took us from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry to wonderful summer festivals such as Bonnaroo and Telluride, and even gave us the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of Elvis Costello. In January 2010, after saying ‘farewell’ to The Lovell Sisters, the musical story of our young adulthood has begun in the form of our new band, Larkin Poe.

Blair has already fitted a lot into his young life. From an early age he was encouraged to take to the stage by his parents. He has now blossomed into a greatly admired singer, guitarist and actor. Some of the highlights of his performing career include playing Little Willy Wonka in the blockbuster movie of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (Johnny Depp starred as the grown-up Willy), touring for the whole of last Autumn in a new production of the play “Lark Rise” and appearing at festivals such as Big Session, Towersey and Cropredy

This incarnation came together after Charlie Hart and Steve Simpson realized that they were not alone in their lasting affection for Ronnie Lane and their sky-high regard for his songs. Films have been made, celebration concerts staged, articles written, covers recorded.... now for the rebirth of the band!

The aim is to create a show which celebrates the range of Ronnie's later music: to take this show to people in village halls and clubs, festivals and theatres at home and abroad; and eventually, joined by numerous friends, to resurrect the Passing Show itself.

From left to right, the line up is usually a five piece:- Steve Simpson, guitar, mandolin, fiddle; Charlie Hart, accordion, fiddle, piano; Steve Bingham, bass; Alun Davies, guitar; Colin Davey, drums. They are sometimes joined by Geraint Watkins, organ, piano when he is available. The whole band sings!

The Toy Hearts

The Toy Hearts are one of the UK's hottest acoustic acts right now, their style of music neatly placing them at the forefront of the resurgence of interest in folk and Americana music.

The Toy Hearts have been making music together for over ten years, partly because the core trio of the band is made up of family members, and partly because they are old school when it comes to music. They have honed their skills the hard way by gigging across the UK, USA and Europe, the result being that they deliver an exciting, energetic and dynamic live show, packed with just the right amounts of sweetness, sass and style.
